Marshall Manning gives an unmistakable nod to his father, Peyton, as he begins his high school football career
The son of the Tennessee legend used his famous father’s catch word on the practice field.
Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Vols legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, will begin the next step of his young football career this fall. Manning is making the jump to high school, where he’ll be attending and playing for the Baylor School in Chattanooga.
Indeed, the same Chattanooga Baylor that many Vol fans will have a close eye on this fall, as Tennessee mega-commit RB David Gabriel Georges will look to try to close out his high school career with another state championship before heading to Knoxville.
And work for that has begun for Manning, Gabriel Georges, and the rest of the Baylor team, as practice has already begun.
Chattanooga Times Free Press writer Stephen Hargis was in attendance on Monday, and captured Manning channeling his father during practice. Manning used his father’s famous “Omaha” cadence during a drill.

Across 17 illustrious NFL seasons, Peyton snapped the ball using his famous call of “Omaha”. The word became synonymous with the former Tennessee Vols great, and he used it to name his media company Omaha Productions.
Manning will serve as Baylor’s backup QB in 2026, as they have senior QB Keegan Croucher under center as the team’s starter this year. Croucher is an Ole Miss commit and ranked by Rivals/On3 as the No. 10 QB in the 2027 class.
But Manning’s day will come soon, and it’ll be interesting to see if his father’s famous cadence continues with him.
