The Tennessee Vols moved to 3-0 on the season after a convincing 42-9 win over Kennesaw State in Neyland Stadium.

Things will get real for the Volunteers starting next weekend with a huge matchup in Knoxville against the Texas Longhorns.

Texas is ranked No. 1 after a win over Ohio State in Week 2.

Tennessee entered Week 3 ranked No. 15, but they aren’t expected to make a big move after the win over Kennesaw State.

CBS Sports is predicting that Tennessee will move up just one spot, to No. 14, in the new AP Top 25 poll when it’s released on Sunday afternoon.

They have the Vols passing Texas A&M after the Aggies’ loss at home to Kentucky (CBS Sports has Texas A&M, which was ranked No. 9, falling out of the Top 25).

On3’s Brett McMurphy, who has a vote in the AP Top 25 poll, has Tennessee at No. 16 on his updated ballot.

A week ago, The Athletic’s Ralph Russo, who is also a Top 25 voter, didn’t even include the Vols on his ballot.

So while there are probably a few voters who will have Tennessee close to the top 10, voters like McMurphy and Russo will ensure the Vols don’t move up too far in the new rankings.

But that’s probably how Vols head coach Josh Heupel prefers it.
