Tennessee Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar predicted to land with iconic franchise in 2026 NFL Draft
Former Tennessee Vols QB Joey Aguilar isn’t a lock to be selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Aguilar is viewed a potential late round selection or an undrafted free agent ahead of the NFL Draft, which gets underway on Thursday.
Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar is hoping to hear his name called at some point during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Aguilar, who spent one season at Tennessee after a winding career that included stops at UCLA and Appalachian State after excelling at the junior college level, is currently viewed as a late round selection/undrafted free agent.
NFL.com predicts Joey Aguilar will land with iconic NFL franchise
The latest mock draft from NFL.com analyst Chad Reuter has the Green Bay Packers selecting Aguilar in the seventh round (No. 236 overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jordan Love is locked in as the Packers’ starting quarterback. Green Bay also has Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord on the roster (McCord signed a reserves/futures contract with Green Bay earlier this offseason).
Aguilar isn’t viewed as a high-upside quarterback prospect, but he has a skillset that could translate to success in the NFL (with success being defined as simply sticking on a roster). Landing with the Packers, a franchise known for its player development, could certainly help Aguilar polish that skillset (just ask Malik Willis).
“Listen, when you watch him play, you go, wow,” said former Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms of Aguilar in March. “He looks like a pro quarterback already. He’s a big guy, 6-foot-3… He’s athletic enough. The size that he is is a big deal, too. Because, man, he took some, well, there’s no other way to say it — he took some ass whoopings down there. He’s throwing the ball and, I mean, he’s just getting blown up. But he has great technique throwing the football. He’s another one who doesn’t lose control… He uses his feet really well.”
Aguilar, a California native, will turn 25 in June.
