We have known for some time that the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs would play again in the 2o26 season, and we bookmarked it as one of the best games on the schedule here at A to Z Sports, given the nature of the contests when the two teams square off.

Well, the NFL acknowledged as much when making the 2026 schedule, as the Chiefs and Bills will not only play in a standalone, primetime game, but in one of the biggest games of the year in 2026.

It only feels right to have one of the NFL’s best rivalries renewed on what is the busiest football-watching day of the year outside of Super Bowl Sunday. When we broke down the matchup the other night, the big question was: would Patrick Mahomes play?

Well, while nothing is set in stone, the NFL put the Broncos and Chiefs on Monday Night Football…In Week 1. That says a lot about where the league thinks Mahomes will be in his recovery, in my opinion.

So if they think he will be ready to go by Week 1, then Thanksgiving is a no-brainer.

What to expect from Chiefs-Bills

An average of just five points has decided the last five matchups between these two teams, and the winner has scored an average of 27 points. What does that mean? These games are both close and high-scoring.

Oh, and it will feature the two quarterbacks in the sports who many believe to be ranked 1-2 in the league. Of course, Patrick Mahomes is the one who has come away on top when the stakes are highest, but the Bills have won the last three regular-season contests.
