5 winners and 2 losers from Browns’ big AFC North win over the Ravens in Week 6
Going through the Cleveland Browns stock up/stock down report following the Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Cleveland Browns are in first place in the AFC North after a 13-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6. You read that right: the Browns sit alone atop the division after six weeks of the NFL season.
Cleveland gave up 10 first-quarter points to the Ravens, and then Baltimore didn’t score again after its early offensive success. The Browns scored all 13 of their points in the second half to complete the comeback in a division game that could carry weight later in the year.
A handful of players stood out against the Ravens, for better or worse. Here are the winners and losers from the Browns’ Week 6 win.
Browns’ Week 6 winners from Victory over Ravens
LB Carson Schwesinger
Schwesinger was questionable to play going into the game, and he still turned in a dominant performance for the Browns defense. The second-year linebacker finished with 13 tackles and one forced fumble. Cleveland doesn’t win this game without him.
Schwesinger is putting together another great season in his second year, and he keeps finding ways to punch the ball out. That’s a big boost for a defense that has to keep generating takeaways.
DT Maliek Collins
The Browns were without Mason Graham and Mike Hall Jr. against the Ravens. Even so, Cleveland’s defensive line still found ways to step up and win at the line of scrimmage.
Collins had a sack and three tackles, which makes three games in a row with a sack. He’s now up to 3.5 sacks. The veteran defensive tackle is getting it done in the middle of the Browns’ defensive line.
K Andre Smytz
The Browns kicker did miss a 48-yard field goal. Still, anytime you kick a game-winning field goal, you’re going to end up on a winners list in Cleveland.
Smytz has turned into a reliable kicker for the most part. He’s now 12-of-13 on field goal attempts, and the Browns continue to lean on him often.
WR Jerry Jeudy
Jeudy’s name has come up in plenty of trade rumors and chatter. He tuned it out and put together a solid game against the Ravens.
His fourth-quarter catches propelled the Browns to their late scoring, and Cleveland doesn’t win without them. Jeudy finished with four catches for 69 yards. It was his biggest game of the season, and it came against an AFC North opponent. That’s a big deal.
S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
The rookie had to step up and play nearly the whole game after safety Grant Delpit went down with a concussion early in the first quarter. McNeil-Warren answered the call with a pass breakup, a tackle for loss, and six tackles.
It was a strong showing for the second-round pick. McNeil-Warren continues to look like a potential future star in this league.
Browns losers from Week 6 against the Ravens
WR Denzel Boston
Boston finished with just one catch for 15 yards and had one drop. It was his worst game as a pro so far and his first game with only one catch.
It wasn’t a terrible outing. Boston simply didn’t get many targets, and when the ball did come his way, the drop stands out. Better days are ahead for the Browns’ top wide receiver option.
P Corey Bojorquez
Bojorquez was called on often because the Browns struggled to move the ball against Baltimore for much of the game. He punted seven times.
However, his inconsistency in punting the ball out of bounds hurt Cleveland several times. Those mistakes left the Ravens with a shorter field than they should have had. The Browns need Bojorquez to be a special teams weapon if they’re going to use him this much.
