Browns have a golden opportunity in front of them to get where no one had them during this 2026 NFL season
The Cleveland Browns have to be feeling good about a 4-2 record coming out of Week 6. What’s next could start some real discussions.
The Cleveland Browns sitting at 4-2 through their first six games of the 2026 NFL season is something nobody saw coming. Cleveland defended home field on Sunday with a 13-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. The roster has plenty of young, exciting pieces, but few people expected a Deshaun Watson-led team to be atop the AFC North after Week 6.
Now the Browns have a great chance to move to 5-2. Cleveland travels to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, and on paper, this is a game the Browns cannot lose. A win would push the conversation in Cleveland somewhere few expected it to go this early.
Tennessee Titans enter Week 7 off their first win
The Titans are coming off their first win of the season, a 26-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. It was a good win for Tennessee. Still, the Titans are who they are, and that’s a bad team with a bad starting quarterback.
Tennessee won in Week 6 despite the play of quarterback Cam Ward, not because of it. Ward completed 11-of-22 passes for 102 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception. He has hit 200 passing yards just once this season, when he threw for 222 yards in a Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Titans have also dropped games to the Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Houston Texans. Tennessee simply hasn’t been competitive on a weekly basis, and the offense is the biggest reason why.
Titans offense ranks last in the NFL in scoring
Tennessee owns the worst scoring offense in the NFL at 11.6 points per game. That’s a number that should have Cleveland’s defense licking its chops heading into Sunday.
Defensively, the Titans are pretty average. Tennessee allows 342.6 yards per game, which ranks 19th in the league. The Titans are a bit better at keeping teams off the scoreboard, sitting just outside the top 10 in points allowed at 21.8 per game.
Put those numbers together and the gap between these two teams is clear. Cleveland has been the better team through six weeks, and Tennessee hasn’t shown it can move the ball consistently against anyone.
Browns need to take care of business on the road
There is some recent history the Browns would like to forget. The last time these two teams met was last season, when the Titans took a 31-29 win over Cleveland. The Browns got off to a rough start in that game and never could climb out of the hole.
This go-around, the setting matters too. The Browns are 3-0 at home this season, but this one comes on the road. The Browns are going into a building where they should be able to play in front of quite a bit of their own fans.
If Cleveland can grab this win, it’s time to start talking about the playoffs with this Browns team. Of course, the Browns still have to go out and get it done in six days.
This is a matchup Cleveland should circle as a must-have. A 5-2 start would keep the Browns atop the division and turn a surprise start into something much more real.
