Sports Illustrated says the Denver Broncos need to sign veteran player that head coach Sean Payton knows extremely well

The Denver Broncos don’t have many roster holes remaining after free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft. Denver, in fact, may have one of the best rosters in the NFL entering the 2026 season.

The Denver Broncos are one of the few teams in the NFL that should feel extremely satisfied with the state of their roster.

Denver entered the offseason with a Super Bowl-caliber roster that only needed a few key areas addressed.

The Broncos addressed their biggest need — landing another playmaker for quarterback Bo Nix — by acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.

Sports Illustrated says Broncos should sign a player that’s very familiar to head coach Sean Payton

Sports Illustrated recently detailed one move that every NFL needs to make following the 2026 NFL Draft, and they think Denver should sign former New Orleans Saints quarterback/tight end Taysom Hill.

Hill spent five seasons in New Orleans with Payton.

From Sports Illustrated: The Broncos do not have many needs or even much room for depth players to get playing time, so why not bring in Taysom Hill for a reunion with Sean Payton? The Broncos coach initially unlocked Hill’s versatile abilities when he was with the Saints, and could bring some of those fun gadget plays to the Broncos offense in 2026.

Hill scored 23 touchdowns during his time with Payton. I don’t think there’s any way he could recreate that production with the Broncos, but he could still be a useful “gadget player” in Denver.
