We now know two starters will not be suiting up when the Colts kick off their preseason at 1 p.m. Eastern today.
Juju Brents & DeForest Buckner

The Colts will be without star DT DeForest Buckner and second-year CB Juju Brents. Buckner is one of the best players on this Colts roster and simply doesn't need preseason reps ahead of the 2024 regular season. So, him not suiting up isn't surprising, and I expect this to be their plan for him for the entire preseason. With him out, this will likely mean more opportunities for players like Taven Bryan and Adetomiwa Adebawore to get some reps with the starters.
Brents, on the other hand, is dealing with an injury, so the Colts' decision is more to side on the side of caution. The team did share, though, that if this were a regular-season game, Brents would have played. With Brents out, this will likely mean the Colts' starting outside CBs will be Jaylon Jones and Dallis Flowers, with Kenny Moore II in the slot.
