With Training Camp less than ten days away, many websites will likely begin to release their top NFL 100 players ahead of the 2024 season.
Pro Football Network released theirs on Monday, July 15, and the disrespect to the Indianapolis Colts was unreal.
Colts players in PFN's top 100
The first and only Colts player on PFN's list was All-Pro DT DeForest Buckner. They were one of five teams with only one player included, and three teams had zero.
DeForest Buckner
Buckner landed the lowest spot possible at 100. I thought Buckner's placement in our top 105 rankings was too low, but 100 seems flat-out disrespectful. Buckner has been one of the most consistent DTs in the NFL during his time with the Colts, and that is without an elite pass rusher off the edge to take some of the pressure off his plate. If Colts 2024 first-round pick Laiatu Latu can become the player the team believes he can be, it could unlock a whole new level in Buckner's game. I think Buckner will remind the rest of the NFL just how good he still is in 2024 and beyond.
Quenton Nelson
Nelson didn't make the list at all, which is foolish to me. Nelson is one of the best guards and offensive linemen in the NFL. The three-time All-Pro is coming off arguably one of his most dominant seasons after a down year in 2022, where, in my opinion, he proved to everyone he is still elite. But apparently, his rough 2022 season has left some continuing to doubt his ability. PFN is one of them, with him being left out of their top 100.
