Week 16 matchups to root for if you are more interested in the Colts 2025 NFL Draft pick than the team making the AFC playoffs
Part of the Indianapolis Colts fan base is still holding on to hope, as the team still has two paths to the AFC playoffs. But for another part of the fan base, the team's Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos was the final straw. They've lost all hope of salvaging this season. That group has already […]
Part of the Indianapolis Colts fan base is still holding on to hope, as the team still has two paths to the AFC playoffs.
But for another part of the fan base, the team's Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos was the final straw. They've lost all hope of salvaging this season. That group has already shifted their focus to the 2025 NFL Draft and is more concerned with the Colts raising their draft position as high as possible than they are with winning games they believe are now meaningless.
If that's you, here are the results you are rooting for in Week 16 to help move the Colts up the 2025 NFL Draft order.
Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts
If you want the Colts to get the best pick possible, you are rooting for December losses for another year. But this year, it's going to be tough, as all three of the Colts' remaining opponents would own a pick inside the top 10 if the season ended today. On the bright side, two of their opponents are AFC South rivals, including their Week 16 matchup with the Tennessee Titans, so maybe they want to play spoiler more than they want to improve their own draft slot.
Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals
Funny enough, whether you are rooting for the playoffs or a better draft pick for the Colts, both paths need a Bengals win over the Browns in Week 16. The Bengals currently sit at 6-8, the same record as the Colts, and to make sure they don't have to worry about the NFL's silly tiebreaker policy, they would like to see Cincinnati separate themselves with wins down the stretch.
San Francisco 49ers @ Miami Dolphins
Like above, the Colts are rooting for the Dolphins to win in Week 16 because it can help their playoff odds and draft selection. The Dolphins are also 6-8 and, if the season ended today, would have a higher pick than the Colts.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Dallas Cowboys
Yet another 6-8 team for the Colts to root for In the Cowboys. However, it won't be easy with them set to take on the red-hot Buccaneers. The best thing about this game is that it doesn't really affect their playoff odds, but it would surely help the Colts by falling a game behind the Cowboys in terms of their draft selection.
New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers
The last game to keep your eye on this week is the Saints vs. Packers. The Saints sit at 5-9 and own the 10th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Them picking up a win would bring them even with the Colts and open the door for the Colts to slide into the top ten this week with a loss.
NFL Week 16 game results needed to keep the Indianapolis Colts slim playoff chances alive
The Indianapolis Colts Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos put their playoff hopes on life support. They are still holding on to a slim chance to punch their ticket to the AFC playoffs, but they no longer control their own destiny. They now need some help from a couple of teams ahead of them […]
The Colts are getting an unexpected surprise as they prepare for the final three games of their season
The Indianapolis Colts are coming off a devastating loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 15, and morale around the team seems to have reached its lowest point of the season. So, the team and the fanbase could use any good news right about now. This is why the news of second-year cornerback Juju Brents being designated to return […]
