Kansas City Chiefs’ $300 million practice facility and headquarters get a new partner, design announcements coming soon
The Kansas City Chiefs announced a new partner for their $300M practice facility and headquarters project in Olathe, Kansas. They also teased design and construction announcements coming soon.
The Kansas City Chiefs made their first major announcement on their upcoming $300M practice facility and headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.
On Thursday, July 16, the team named Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell as “owner’s representative” for the new project. What is an “owner’s representative,” you might ask? The Chiefs say Burns & McDonnell will join forces with CAA ICON on the new project. They’ll coordinate architects, engineers, stakeholders, contractors, and planners as they navigate the construction of the practice facility and headquarters.
“We are extremely excited to have Burns & McDonnell join our project team as owner’s representative for our new practice facility and headquarters that we will be building in Olathe,” Chiefs Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Matt Kenny said, via press release. “As a local, employee-owned firm with a track record of project success around the world, we know they have the right mix of local knowledge as well as global experience to help us navigate the upcoming design and construction phases of a truly unique year-round home for our football team and staff.”
“We are honored to partner with the Kansas City Chiefs on this transformational project,” said Jon Wright, senior vice president and general manager of the Buildings Market at Burns & McDonnell. “The Chiefs have had an extraordinary impact on our region for generations, and this investment represents an exciting new chapter for the organization and the Kansas City community. As a Kansas City-based company, it is a privilege to help bring that vision to life by providing experienced project leadership from planning through construction. We look forward to working alongside the Chiefs and the entire project team to deliver a world-class facility for the organization, its staff and Chiefs Kingdom.”
Back in August of 2025, the Chiefs announced an agreement with Burns & McDonnell as the team’s practice jersey patch sponsor. Burns & McDonnell’s logo is also visible on the team’s media availability lectern.
Everything to know about the Chiefs’ new practice facility and headquarters
This project coincides with the team’s $3 billion stadium, which will move the club out of Missouri across state lines to Kansas in 2031. The new practice facility and headquarters, along with an associated mixed-use development, will open ahead of the 2031 football season. The approximately 155-acre project will go up at the intersection of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
The team says additional announcements regarding the design and construction of the new practice facility will be made in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for those announcements and more information regarding the future day-to-day home of the Chiefs.
