Chiefs-Giants Wednesday injury report: Kansas City down a couple defensive starters, but help on the way for the offense
The first injury report of the week for the Chiefs’ Week 3 matchup vs. Giants.
The Kansas City Chiefs are traveling to New York to take on the Giants on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.
Injuries have already been a huge obstacle for the Chiefs to overcome this season, playing a role in them starting 0-2. However, those fortunes appear as though they could be changing for the better soon. The 0-2 Giants are also looking to get their first win of the season. Let’s take a look at each team’s first injury report of the week.
Giants’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Wednesday |
| LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles | Calf | DNP |
| DL Chauncey Golston | Ankle | DNP |
| LB Darius Muasau | Concussion/Eye | DNP |
| WR Gunner Olszewski | Back | LP |
| DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches | Foot | LP |
| WR Wan’Dale Robinson | Foot | LP |
| OG Jon Runyan | Back | LP |
| C John Michael Schmitz | Toe | LP |
| WR Darius Slayton | Groin/Calf | LP |
| OT Andrew Thomas | Foot | LP |
| RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. | Calf | LP |
| DL Roy Robertson-Harris | Knee | FP |
| RB Cam Skattebo | Ankle | FP |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations:
- All three players who did not practice for the Giants on Wednesday are in their defensive front seven. If they don’t progress and can’t play on Sunday, that will leave the unit very thin.
- Three key skill position players — Robinson, Slayton, and Tracy, will be closely monitored as they were all limited. Robinson had a huge game in Week 2, catching eight passes for 142 yards and one touchdown.
- New York’s offensive line is also beat up, as starters Thomas, Schmitz, and Runyan were limited.
Chiefs’ Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | Wednesday |
| DE Mike Danna | Quad | DNP |
| CB Kristian Fulton | Ankle | DNP |
| WR Xavier Worthy | Shoulder | LP |
| WR Jalen Royals | Knee | LP |
| OT Josh Simmons | Illness | LP |
| WR Hollywood Brown | Ankle | FP |
| DE Ashton Gillotte | Elbow | FP |
| QB Patrick Mahomes | Wrist | FP |
| DE Charles Omenihu | Hand | FP |
| OT Jawaan Taylor | Ankle/Knee | FP |
| LB Drue Tanquill | Knee | FP |
KEY: DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related
Observations:
- Worthy and Royals practicing is music to everybody’s ears. It has been reported that Worthy has a real shot to play this week against New York, which would give the Chiefs’ offense a much needed boost. Today was Royals’ first practice in quite some time, so his status is a little more up in the air.
- Danna and Fulton both exited Week 2’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles early, and neither practiced on Wednesday. That’s not a great first sign for their availability against the Giants, but there’s still time for them to turn the corner.
- Simmons is battling an illness, but the fact that he was able to participate in a limited fashion is positive.
