After a disappointing 2015 season, things are back on schedule for Mahomes and his romp through the rest of the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs star has been back in action for a few weeks now in 2026, and he’s back to his old tricks. An undefeated 3-0 start has helped numbers line up across the board between Mahomes & Brady. And it makes it difficult not to engage in what might be the NFL’s most compelling historical quarterback comparison.

Plus the same record through the same number of Super Bowl appearances. Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, up and down the board, are mirrors of one another when it comes to team success through the first 150 starts of their careers. That in and of itself is a pretty incredible feat.
The biggest hurdle for Mahomes from a Tom Brady statistical standpoint probably won’t be the wins and losses, although that number of Super Bowl championships is a lofty goal for any quarterback to chase down. The separation will come down to the stats and the longevity from a raw passing production standpoint. Mahomes was doing things in his first season as a starter that Brady didn’t do for nearly a decade into his NFL career. But there’s still the element of playing until you’re 45 years old. That’s the mountain Mahomes has to climb if he wants to match Brady’s volume.
Brady played 23 NFL seasons and racked up over 89,000 passing yards. Mahomes is nowhere near that number yet, and he won’t be for a long time. The sustained excellence required to stay on the field that long, at that level, is the variable that no one can predict for any quarterback, no matter how talented. But one thing you can say?
