Infamous Dolphins draft bust getting second chance to redefine his football legacy
One of the most disappointing Dolphins picks of recent memory is getting another crack at a positive impact in football.
There’s no love lost between Miami Dolphins fans and former first-round draft choice Dion Jordan.
Jordan is a part of a painful past of miscalculations by Miami in the early chapters of the NFL Draft — and his name lingers as a missed opportunity for the Dolphins back in the day. We’re more than a decade removed from Jordan’s time in Miami. And there have been plenty of other frustrating picks since for Dolphins fans to shift their attention towards. But for Jordan, his football legacy hasn’t just been defined by his time in South Florida. And he’s now getting a major opportunity to redefine it all together.
Former Dolphin Dion Jordan named head coach of Division III Eureka College
Jordan is the new head coach at Division III Eureka College in Illinois. He was in the NFL as recently as 2020, a year in which he posted three sacks with the San Francisco 49ers. In his time since, he’s transitioned to coaching and now gets a chance to be a head coach for young men seeking to continue their passion for the game. Jordan’s experiences and trials as a player can provide him with valuable insight to provide his players for however long he holds the position.
It’s not the football career that Dolphins fans had hoped for way back in 2013, but it’s still great to see a player get a chance to find fulfillment and purpose in the game despite the hardships on the field as a player. Jordan has a chance to be a whole lot more than just a former draft disappointment. I, for one, will be pulling for him to have all the success. Both as a coach and as a mentor.
