There isn’t a better wide receiver in the NFL than Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. You can make an argument for Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals, but that’s it.

Jefferson knows that he’s great at football, and the rest of the league does as well. Now, the players ranking him 19th among NFL players doesn’t necessarily reflect that. Even so, everyone in Minnesota knows the truth.

Justin Jefferson knows he’s got a lot of power

Being one of the best receivers in the NFL gives Jefferson a level of clout. He could be vocal about what he wants and feels within the organization, but instead, he keeps his frustration to himself. Think about how rare that is for a superstar of Jefferson’s caliber.

The Athletic’s Mike Silver wrote a profile on Jefferson highlighting how he doesn’t like to share his frustration publicly, even though we could all see it during press conferences.

“It’s a part of the game,” he said. “Not everything is gonna be flowers and rainbows, you know? Not every season is going to be the best season ever, and that’s something that you just kind of got to deal with — something that as a leader, as a captain of this team, everybody is looking at me, everybody has eyes on me.

“That one comment that I (might) make about one of my teammates might make headlines and be the trending topic, and that might be a bad look on the team and for me as well. So just keeping it in house, communicating with my teammates personally and letting them know what’s going on … even talking with J.J. (McCarthy) last season and making sure his head is on right, with all of the negativity. Never will I downplay anybody in the media, no matter how bad it is.”

Jefferson is one of a kind when it comes to being a wide receiver in the NFL. He understands how every word he speaks means more than most humans on planet Earth. That’s massive for the Vikings as they continue to build and maintain a great culture.

He’s truly unique, and the Vikings are better off having him in every way.
