Minnesota Vikings use final injured reserve spot on promising rookie
The Minnesota Vikings are taking advantage of the new rule with injured reserve this season. On Monday, reports surfaced that they would be placing offensive lineman Dalton Risner on injured reserve and on Tuesday, it was edge rusher Gabriel Murphy reportedly heading to injured reserve.
The move to keep Murphy shouldn't come as a surprise. The Vikings gave him $225k in fully guaranteed money to sign as an undrafted free agent this offseason. He was the highest ranked UDFA on the consensus board and was playing well during training camp before he got injured.
Being one of the two Vikings placed on injured reserve means the Vikings can bring him back after four games just like they can with Risner and T.J. Hockenson who will stay on the physically unable to perform list.
