This season did not go as the New England Patriots hoped.
But there is one positive despite their final 4-13 record.
With their loss to the New York Jets, the Patriots earned themselves a top three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The only question was whether they could advance to No. 2.
However a Washington Commanders loss this afternoon solidified that they will be picking No. 3 overall. And that's the best thing this team could hope for right now.
The Carolina Panthers poor record earned the Chicago Bears the top pick via a trade. So that probably means Caleb Williams is headed to Chicago.
The Commanders have Sam Howell as their starting quarterback, but they could look to bring in another. And that could mean Drake Maye might be headed to Washington.
That will leave the Patriots with Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. That could definitely end up working out for them.
Based on the way this season has gone, it's the offense that needs the most work. So on top of a quarterback, the team needs a top tier tackle and a strong receiving core, just to name a few.
The draft combined with plenty of cap space in free agency should allow for this team to truly start to rebuild and turn this thing around.
But let's figure out the coaching situation first.
