In a season of change around the New Orleans Saints, they made a great choice to begin the summer.

The Saints announced they're going to induct Brees into their franchise's Hall of Fame during the 2024 season. During his acceptance speech and press conference, he made an admission that will shake Saints fans to their bones.

Brees says that he almost came back in 2021

Brees was asked how serious his interest in returning in 2021 was. He was dealing with multiple serious injuries at the time.

"Very. I'll just leave it at that."

Sadly, this confirms what Saints fans feared back then. He really was considering a return to football and New Orleans, but he decided against it due to his limited usage of his right arm. Now, he cannot even throw right-handed, opting to throw left-handed to his kids.

He also noted that his arm injury prevented him from playing another three years, probably.

"Honestly, if my right arm was still working I probably would've played another 3 years."

All in all, it's a story of "could've" for fans of the black and gold. Since his retirement, the Saints have struggled with mediocre QB play.

They believe that Derek Carr can change that this season with a new offensive staff, but there's still plenty for him to prove in order to change that narrative.
