Philadelphia Eagles’ defense quit on Monday Night Football, and the evidence is clear as day on camera

The Philadelphia Eagles have dropped five straight games after a 2-0 start, and one of the best film minds in the industry just pointed out a fourth-quarter moment that should alarm everyone in the building.

The Philadelphia Eagles are a franchise in freefall, and Monday Night Football was the lowest point yet. The product Philadelphia put on the field was an embarrassment, and if you go back and turn on the tape, it gets a lot worse.

After a 2-0 start, the Eagles have now lost five games in a row. It’s one thing to lose five straight. It’s another thing entirely to quit on your head coach in front of a national audience.

Eagles season facts

  • Started the season 2-0
  • Have lost five consecutive games.
  • Own the second-longest losing streak in the NFL, behind only the Chargers.

Brian Baldinger’s film shows Eagles players not even getting set

It felt like the Eagles quit while watching the game live. We wrote about it here at A to Z Sports, arguing that the team had quit on Nick Sirianni. Now there is tangible evidence to back it up.

Brian Baldinger, one of the best film breakdown analysts in the industry, posted a clip on X from the fourth quarter that should make every Eagles fan sick to their stomach. Along with the clip, Baldinger directed this message at the team:

> @Eagles, can we at least get into our stance? Please try to be ready at the snap. > > Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) on X

Watch the beginning of that play. Jalen Carter and others on the defensive line are standing straight up as the ball is about to be snapped. Then the ball does get snapped, and they still aren’t ready. That isn’t a missed assignment or a busted coverage. That is effort, and effort is the one thing a player is supposed to control.

The fans had seen enough, too. It wasn’t even worth booing at that point. They just left.

It doesn’t get any worse than that.

Why this goes beyond a typical losing streak

My main issue with what we saw is that this wasn’t garbage time in a blowout. The game was still somewhat close in the fourth quarter, and Philadelphia’s defensive linemen couldn’t be bothered to get into a stance before the snap.

Teams lose games. Teams go through rough stretches. But when players stop doing the basic, fundamental things that every lineman learns in Pop Warner, it tells you the message from the coaching staff is no longer landing. In my opinion, this team no longer cares about winning football games.

And it isn’t only about Sirianni. The Eagles have quit on Sirianni, on general manager Howie Roseman, on owner Jeffrey Lurie, and on the entire franchise. That is a collapse that reaches from the locker room all the way up to the owner’s box.

Loud quitting on the Philadelphia Eagles

We have all heard of quiet quitting. It’s what people do at their 9-to-5 when they show up, do the bare minimum, and clock out. This is something different.

The Eagles are loud quitting. They’re doing it on a national stage, with cameras rolling and analysts like Baldinger freezing the tape to show everyone exactly what is happening. There is no hiding from that, and there is no spinning it in a postgame press conference.

A two-win team riding a five-game losing streak has bigger problems than the scoreboard. When the effort disappears, the coach usually follows, and Philadelphia is getting closer to that point every week. The Eagles have turned into a disaster, and right now their own players are making that case louder than anyone.
