NASHVILLE — Three different head coaches in the last four seasons have been hired (and fired) by the Tennessee Titans. When training camp begins this week, the roster competitions will pick up steam.
Several players on Tennessee’s depth chart could use a fresh start under a new regime.
Titans Fresh Start Candidates
A fresh start means different things for different Titans players.
For right tackle JC Latham, a fresh start means wiping the slate clean and framing everything through a 2026 lens. Play well, stay healthy, and the tackle market will reward him handsomely. The Titans cannot afford to keep churning through offensive linemen every year.
They need the investment in Latham to pan out.
Quarterback Will Levis is a different case entirely. Drafted in 2023 with a second-round pick, Levis’ only season as a starter was disastrous. A 1-10 record in 2024 saw him benched. He would then soon be replaced in the following year’s draft with No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. It is not about keeping Levis’ career alive in Tennessee.
It is about playing his way out.
A good camp and preseason under new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll could make Levis an attractive acquisition for a team QB bargain shopping.
Titans already playing catch-up
Edge defender Femi Oladejo rounds out the list of players who are in wait-and-see mode with Saleh’s staff.
Oladejo had his rookie season cut short with a broken leg only six weeks in. No on-field offseason work as he recovered puts the second-round converted linebacker in precarious position.
A fresh start for Femi comes by way of a rotational role in the defensive scheme change.
“The reason why we rotate so much is so our horses can rush the passer when it’s time to rush the passer,” Saleh said during voluntary work this Spring. “So, if Jeffery (Simmons) is too tired to rush on third down, then our D-line coaches — we have a problem. So the objective is to make sure guys like Jeffrey, John (Franklin-Myers), Jermaine (Johnson II), Jacob (Martin), Femi (Oladejo) are as fresh as heck when it comes down to third down and two-minute so we can go get after the quarterback.”
Femi needs to make impact plays when his opportunities arise, or consider himself out with the Titans at this time next year.
