The Washington Commanders are looking to reload their roster in the 2026 NFL Draft next week, but the players aren’t the only thing that will look new.

We’ve seen the team address much-needed changes after a controversial rebrand, and steady improvements have been made. After bringing back their classic white Super Bowl Era uniforms last year, it was heavily rumored that the primary uniforms would see a drastic change.

After much anticipation, the Washington Commanders have rolled out their new uniforms, including a new black alternate uniform with a brand-new alternate logo.

Washington Commanders bring back classic primary jerseys

The White Super Bowl Era uniforms were a massive hit last season, and thankfully, they are back full-time in 2026. The white primary jersey has the thick burgundy collar again with the solid block burgundy numbers and gold outline. They also have the burgundy and gold sleeve stripes and numbers on the sleeves as well.

The helmet has returned to the glossy look and not the matte helmet that we’ve seen, which was the right call with the classic look. The Washington Commanders also showed three possible pants combos with the white jerseys, including gold, burgundy, and white, so the combinations are endless.

Something we didn’t see last year were the burgundy versions of the classic uniforms, which we finally have as the primary as well. The burgundy uniforms match the white with the sleeve designs, block numbers, and gold facemask as well. The three colored pants with the classic stripes could be worn with the burgundy uniforms as well.

We expected these uniforms, but the rollout of the new black alternate uniforms wasn’t expected, especially with the new alternate logo.

The rumors were true about a new alternate uniform, and even a brand new alternate logo that nobody has seen before. The Commanders have been teasing the return of the spear ever since media day last season, and we expected it to be involved in some way. We finally got our answer with a new spear logo with the black alternate uniforms.

The new alternate logo is a swear interweaving through the W, which is a callback to the classic uniforms from the late 1960’s. The logo is only on the new black helmets, which also look drastically different with the two burgundy stripes and a gold stripe down the middle.

The black alternates have a bold burgundy numbering with a gold border to make it pop. The entire uniform has a unique texture and sparkle to it, and not just some dull black. These are really growing on me, and look better than I anticipated.

All of the new uniforms are for sale now, including a haul of new merch that just dropped online!
