The Washington Commanders have been participating in training camp for the last two weeks, but it’s been without one of the most important pieces of the team.

I’ve been impressed with how the team has progressed as a whole since camp first kicked off, but you can’t help but wonder what the team would look like with All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin out there catching passes, too.

The fans have been wanting to see McLaurin at practice, and they aren’t the only ones. McLaurin also received public support from a fellow teammate.

Another WR can’t wait to see McLaurin at practice again

Deebo Samuel has been making the most of McLaurin’s absence from practice and already has a solid connection built with QB Jayden Daniels because of it. It’s been long enough, though, and even Samuel knows how much better this team can be with McLaurin on the other side of the field.

Samuel knows what McLaurin is going through from the business side of the situation, and he fully supports his new teammate.

“I’ve been in the situation before,” Samuel said on Bleacher Report’s B/R Gridiron live stream. “I’m a guy that tries not to get too deep in what is the business side of things, but at the end of the day, 17, you know I want you out here, I want him out here for sure, no matter how long it takes.”

Samuel got a glimpse of what practice with McLaurin can look like, but the two haven’t been on the field together since the end of May when McLaurin stepped away from the team. McLaurin said back in July, when he spoke out on his frustrations with the team, that things were going “really well” in practice before contract negotiations stalemated.

Adam Peters and the Commanders traded for Samuel this offseason because they know the potential of the team’s offense with Samuel and McLaurin catching passes from Daniels in his second season. Not extending McLaurin on a long-term contract would set back the progress you’ve made on building the roster to go all-in on a Super Bowl run this season.

Bottom line is that everyone knows the team will be better with McLaurin on the field as soon as possible. Fans want him out there, McLaurin himself wants to be back with his team, and of course, his teammates like Deebo Samuel can’t wait until he’s back on the field and the team hits the ground running before the season starts, hopefully.
