Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin unexpectedly popped up on the final injury report with a hamstring injury heading into Week 4’s big matchup with the Indianapolis Colts and it’s bad enough to where he won’t play.

Per the team’s inactives report, Terry McLaurin has been ruled out of the Colts game along with running back Rachaad White, quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Luke McCaffrey, safety Nick Cross, outside linebacker Javonte Jean-Baptiste, and guard Sam Cosmi.

White, Daniels, Cross, and Cosmi were all ruled out on Friday, so their absences are expected. Jean-Baptiste and McCaffrey are considered healthy scratches, however.

McLaurin apparently suffered the hamstring injury in practice and it’s not hard to figure out why it’s a big deal. He’s the team’s top wideout and is coming off a big game in the upset win over the Seattle Seahawks, where he recorded six receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.

So far this year, McLaurin has 10 receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets. He’s recorded at least 50 receiving yards in two of three games and looked to be back on track after an injury-plagued 2025 season that limited to him to just 38 catches, 582 yards, and three touchdowns across 10 games.

The hope is the hamstring injury isn’t anything major, but as we all know, hamstring injuries are fickle and are usually a week-to-week injury. The biggest fear is a setback/aggravation of the injury, so teams usually have to be very cautious with how they handle things. Especially when it comes to a skill player like McLaurin.

The Commanders didn’t elevate any wide receivers from the practice squad over the weekend, which leaves Stefon Diggs, Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown, Treylon Burks, and Jaylin Lane as the receivers for Sunday’s game. Both Diggs and Williams have shown plenty of promise and have made big plays in the passing game, so the hope is that can continue against the Colts.

Burks has also had a couple of pops here and there, which has been a great development for both the former first-round pick and the Commanders’ passing attack.

We’ll see just how long Terry McLaurin’s hamstring keeps him out, but he’ll definitely miss the Colts game where the Commanders are looking to get to .500 heading into an important Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants.
