The Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates play game two of their series this afternoon. The Pittsburgh Pirates took game one of the series 11-10 to snap a 10 game losing streak but almost lost it in the 9th. Cal Quantrill will take the mound for the Cleveland Indians and has a record of 0-2 with a 3.11 ERA. The Pirates will throw Wil Crowe who has a record of 0-4 and 6.75 ERA.
The Pick: Indians ML (-116)
The Why: Pirates Pitching
Neither of these teams have the fireworks on offense that some teams in the league have. The Indians have the 15th in runs scored while the Pirates rank last in scoring. This matchup comes down to what pitcher we trust the most. Cal Quantrill is not normally a starter so he should just be able to go five or so innings. In his three starts, the Indians went 2-1. He is there to get outs and he should do that well against the lowest run scoring team in baseball. Once he is out of the game, the Indians can turn it over to their bullpen which ranks 5th in ERA at 3.26.
For the Pirates’ starter, Wil Crowe has not had a good year. He has been hit pretty hard at times this year and has consistently given up runs. The Indians are no offensive juggernaut but given the season so far for Crowe, they should be able to hit him and score some runs. Indians’ hitters Eddie Rosario and Jose Ramirez should have success.
We’re going to roll with the Indians in this one on the Moneyline. It will come down to which pitching can we trust the most and that is the Indians. Quantrill should be able to do his part and the Indians offense led by Eddie Rosario should touch Crowe up enough. The Indians should get this one done to start a new losing streak for the Pirates.
Trends We’re Betting On
