Brian Kelly is looking to get LSU into to the College Football Playoff after falling just short each of the last two years. It will be a tall task replacing quarterback Jayden Daniels and receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., but the Tigers have an elite offensive line. New quarterback Garrett Nussmeier should be ready to step in and play well.
As for USC, it has also been tasked with replacing a great quarterback – Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams. However, the Trojans know what they have in new quarterback Miller Moss after he threw for 372 yards and six touchdowns in last season's Holiday Bowl.
Unfortunately, USC lost multiple receivers and offensive linemen to the NFL, which could mean their young replacement will need time to get acclimated. The Trojans are also still a work in progress defensively.
The 4.5 spread in favor of LSU is a tad too steep for me. I think this will be a close game that will be decided by three points or less. I believe the over/under of 64.5 is also a little too high as both offenses are re-tooling.
