The Panthers should be much more locked in for this game after getting hammered by the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. After a rough start, quarterback Bryce Young settled in and led a few nice drives.
He still has a lot of solid weapons to work with in receivers Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette. It's not unreasonable to believe that Carolina can put some points up against a Chargers defense that lost a lot of key pieces during the offseason.
The Chargers took care of business with a home win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week. Although they ran the ball well, Justin Herbert was held to just 144 passing yards. With coach Jim Harbaugh's new style of ground-and-pound offense, it seems Herbert is going to become more of a checkdown type of quarterback.
That will give the Panthers' defense a chance to play fast and corral ball carries. The Chargers are notorious for getting upset by teams they're favored to beat, providing Carolina with a golden bounce back opportunity.
