Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans was ejected from his team’s win on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Evans got into a scuffle with Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore.

After the game, Evans explained what happened.

“Super competitive,” said Evans. “Today, he was just too emotional. You don’t throw punches at guys on the field. He threw a punch at Lenny, and I can’t let that happen to my teammates. So I shoved him… turned into a brawl.”

“We’re in New Orleans, it gets spicy sometimes,” added Evans. “Got a little heated in the scuffle. I’m glad nobody got hurt and glad our team responded after it.”

You certainly can’t fault Evans for standing up for his teammates. That’s the sign of a great culture, which we certainly know is present in Tampa.

The main thing, of course, is that Evans and the Buccaneers won the game.

Had the outcome been different, perhaps Bucs fans would feel differently about the ejection.
