Arkansas Razorbacks take yet another big loss, but this one isn't because of an injury

The Arkansas Razorbacks are not ending this week on a good note. First, it was the news about losing one of their top wide receivers for some time. Now, they are losing a defensive back who really could have helped them in 2025.
Sam Pittman is in a make-or-break year for 2025. If anything goes wrong, and this team doesn't make a bowl game, or even if they do and it's only a six-win season, Pittman could be fired. He knows that, so this isn't any news, as many called for his job last year. And, this offseason, for the most part, has been kind to the Hogs.
They have made some pretty decent moves when it comes to the transfer portal, and signed some good players for their 2025 class, as well as the 2026 class. However, with the season just over a month away, we've encountered some roadblocks.
Razorbacks to lose DB to transfer portal
On Thursday, the news broke that the Hogs would be losing Aidan McCowan to the transfer portal, which seems to be one of the biggest issues for the Hogs in this current era of college football — that and NIL, the two most important things.
Aidan McCowan, a defensive back from Frisco, Texas, joined the Arkansas Razorbacks as a walk-on in spring 2023 after an open tryout. At 6’0” and 175 pounds, he played two seasons with the team, seeing limited action but making an impact with a pass breakup in Arkansas’s 2024 season-opening win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
While his role at Arkansas was mostly as a depth player, his size and SEC experience make him a potential asset for another program looking to strengthen its secondary. Former players, like Dwight McGlothern, who is now on the Minnesota Vikings, have said that his production is actually great; he just hasn't had enough chances.
McCowan can surely find a place in the portal that will be willing to give him that chance.
