The Florida Gators are about to conclude their spring practice on Saturday afternoon in the Orange & Blue game. It's a tradition for the Gators, as they are continuing to have the game while some teams are choosing to stop playing the game.
One of the interesting elements for the Orange & Blue game is that quarterback DJ Lagway won't be playing in the game due to his shoulder injury that he is working hard to rehab so it will allow him to play in 2025.
There will be some interesting things to keep an eye on during the game.
Harrison Bailey vs. Aidan Warner
With Lagway not going to play during the game, all eyes will be on the backup quarterbacks.
Bailey transferred in from Louisville after starting in the Sun Bowl, getting the win against the Washington Huskies. Warner on the other hand was the starter for the Gators against Texas and got playing time against Georgia, where he kept them in the game before they ended up losing late in the fourth quarter.
According to Gators Online's Zach Abolverdi, Warner is ahead of Bailey but this is likely to continue on through fall camp.
Wide receiver depth
After losing Elijah Badger and Chimere Dike to the NFL Draft, the Gators are going to have a much different wide receiver room. Eugene Wilson is the star of the room, but he is coming off of a significant knee injury.
The newcomers in the room are transfer portal addition J. Michael Sturdivant, five-star recruit Dallas Turner, and four-star recruit Vernell Brown III. Plus, Aidan Mizell and Khaleil Jackson are also returning. Who is going to step up and separate themselves? If they end up taking a major step forward, the Gators offense could be a formidable unit.
Cornerback is fascinating
The Gators lost their number one cornerback over the last few years in Jason Marshall Jr. to the NFL Dradt and there are interesting players at the position to consider. One of those is Cormani McClain, who initially committed to Florida before going to Colorado and coming back. Plus, they have some interesting players, including elite recruit Ben Hanks III to keep an eye on.
