Ohio State has 14 commitments in the class of 2026 now after landing four-star RB Favour Akih over the weekend. The month of June is going to be a big one for the Buckeyes and that shouldn’t be the last addition for the class this month.

The Buckeyes will host a pair of Glenville teammates this weekend for visits and it will come just days after they camped in Columbus and worked out in front of coaches.

Four-star LB Cincere Johnson is a major target and the Buckeyes are trying to flip his teammate, who recently committed to Florida.

Ohio State pushing to flip three-star DT Jamir Perez from Florida

The Buckeyes are pursuing Glenville (OH) DT Jamir Perez and he is a player who just committed to Florida on May 18. Ohio State has not landed its first defensive lineman for the class of 2026 and that should soon come. Perez could end up being a key part of the interior haul for the class if the Buckeyes can pull off the flip.

“The Florida Gators had a rough start to the recruiting process overall, but have righted the ship with a total of six commits. Of those six, four of them have been within the past week. The only player who committed in 2025, not in the last two weeks was three-star defensive tackle Jamir Perez. He was a really good get for the Gators, especially with his size. The Gators love to have a player with his mass on the interior, and I believe he’s been underrated thus far in his recruitment.

Perez committed early to Florida and the upcoming visit to Ohio State is worrisome for a player who lives close by. It would be a loss for the Gators, but not one that collapses the class. They are on the precipice of landing a commitment from four-star DL JaReylan McCoy and have their hands in many different areas on the DL.” — Tyler Forness, A to Z Sports

Perez is ranked the No. 652 player in the country and No. 72 defensive lineman, per 247 Sports Composite. The Buckeyes have a great chance at landing the flip with getting him on campus twice in a week and potentially more in the future. Ohio State will keep pushing for this one until it can’t.
