Sherrone Moore and his Michigan Wolverines are trying to make sure they never put their fans through another season like 2024. Yes, the team finished strong defeating Alabama in their bowl game and posted an 8-5 record on the year, but the offense was a completely unwatchable mess of nightmares at the quarterback position.

Five star quarterback Bryce Underwood should certainly help fix the team's complete inability to make a forward pass in 2025 and beyond, but coach Moore and his staff are also making sure they have answers at the position well beyond that. Michigan already has Brady Smigiel (high four star QB) locked up for 2026. They already have 13 offers out on quarterbacks for 2027. Now, as of this week, they already have four offers out on quarterbacks for 2028 too–all potential five stars.

Neimann Lawrence, Elite QB Recruit

Neimann Lawrence joins the fold for Michigan this week as their fourth 2028 quarterback recruit with an official offer (as he announced via his post below). The Wolverines have also already offered Donald Tabron (Cass Technical in Detroit, MI), Caiden Belton (East Marion in Columbia, MS), and Jayden Wade (IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL). All four are highly touted freshman recruits with 10+ scholarship offers already.

Jayden Wade is the most nationally recognized recruit of the four quarterbacks Michigan is already chasing after for the 2028 recruiting class, but Neimann Lawrence might be just as good. Lawrence put up 35 total touchdowns as a freshman in high school last fall while averaging over 17 yards per completion. He had already brought in a handful of offers ahead of his freshman year because of his obvious physical traits and early success via the 7-on-7 circuit, but his momentum is fast rising now.

It may seem a bit extreme for Michigan to already have a total of 17 scholarship offers out to quarterbacks who won't be on the team for at least another two years, but that's a great sign for Wolverines fans. Coach Moore saw the ridiculous issue last year on offense and is now making sure that never happens again. Michigan ranked 105th in pass success rate, 123rd in EPA per drop back, and 120th in yards per play last season. Getting the quarterback position right and keeping it that way is obviously going to be key in avoiding a repeat effort like that.

However, someone may want to remind Sherrone Moore and company that the weapons their quarterbacks throw to are important as well. The Wolverines currently only have one wide receiver committed for next year and he's just a three star (Jaylen Pile). There are two tight end recruits already lined up for Michigan next spring, but the team needs to add some speed here soon. Let's hope Michigan begins to emphasize the wide receiver position like they have with quarterback.
