Recruiting for the Florida Gators under head coach Billy Napier has been up and down in recent weeks. They have landed some high-profile visits and also scored an expert prediction for an in-state four-star wide receiver Naeem Burroughs.
They have also been doing work on the defensive side of the football. Losing secondary coach Will Harris was a hindrance in February, but they quickly addressed the position to stabilize recruiting.
Gators land prediction for top linebacker
One thing that has currently eluded the Gators is securing commitments. They currently have just two players committed in the 2026 recruiting class. Getting things in a better spot is currently a priority and they are making strides.
On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong has made an expert prediction for the Gators to land four-star linebacker Izayia Williams.
Williams is the number one linebacker recruit in the country according to On3 Sports, but he does come with some interesting baggage. This isn't the first school that Williams has committed to. He was also committed to Louisville, Syracuse, and Florida State prior to Wiltfong's prediction.
Williams currently has a visit scheduled for June 13th to Gainesville and he's already been there three times with his hometown being just 68 miles away. He would give an immediate boost for the Gators recruiting class.
The real question with Williams is: how long will he stay committed to the Gators? Having already committed and de-committed three times does raise an eyebrow (insert gif of The Rock) on how committed he will be to the Gators. The one thing that should give hope to the Gators is how close Williams is to campus. That element is often huge for recruits, as it's a huge change for them to go into their next step.
If the Gators can land Williams, it would be huge for Napier.
