The Oregon Ducks held their Pro Day on March 18th, with the slew of draft prospects they have in the 2025 NFL Draft putting on workouts for front office personnel around the league.
Tons of scouts were in attendance, but one match may make too much sense — the New York Jets tight end coach Jeff Blasko was in attendance, putting eyes on rising draft prospect tight end Terrance Ferguson. A matchup nightmare with strong hands and good athleticism, Ferguson could be a target for the Jets to answer their longstanding questions at the tight end position.
Ferguson turned some heads at the NFL Scouting Combine, putting together the best athletic testing at the position. His 4.63 second 40-yard dash, 39" vertical jump, and 1.55 second 10-yard split all led the tight end position group at the combine. After putting in a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, Ferguson continued his strong pre-draft process in Indianapolis.
The Jets have plenty of questions to answer, including the future of their quarterback position. New York acquired Justin Fields this offseason, giving him another fresh starts in hopes of reaching his potential. Picking 7th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Jets could be in play for one of the top quarterbacks in the class. They could also turn their attention to an elite, disruptive player on the defensive side of the ball.
Whoever is under center is going to need more weapons in the passing game than just Garrett Wilson, and Ferguson would give them an athletic mismatch against opposing defenses. It makes total sense for the Jets to show interest at the Oregon Pro Day.
