The Ohio State recruiting efforts have been seeing a boost after Ryan Day and his program won its first national championship in a decade. Sure, it seems crazy to say things could get better after the Buckeyes have been top-five in recruiting classes for years. But they're starting to win head-to-head matchups that haven't been as favorable since the creation of NIL.
The Miami Hurricanes have been a thorn in Ohio State's side for years, but recent wins against them for Tarvos Alford and others have given reason for optimism. Now, the Buckeyes appear to have taken a big lead against the Hurricanes for another southern defensive prospect.
According to Chad Simmons of On3, 2026 4-star EDGE Cam Brooks opted to attend the Buckeyes' upcoming summer camp over Miami's.
Going to a three-day summer camp is a great opportunity for players to earn an offer, explore the city, and work closely with staff. The Buckeyes are still figuring out how its staff will look in 2025 after losing Chip Kelly, Jim Knowles, and other assistants.
The June 20-22 camp gives players the chance to get real face time with the new staff. The interesting part of this visit is that Brooks could have still attended a Miami camp since the dates are different. Instead, he locked in four visits.
Ohio State is considered a favorite alongside Florida and Georgia. He had previously set a visit with Miami in late January and will likely still visit the campus at some point in the spring.
