Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels raced out to land a visit from former Miami Hurricanes safety Zaquan Patterson in mid-April, but the race is heating up. Unfortunately for the Rebels, it doesn't seem to be going in their direction as more teams get involved.
Ole Miss was successful in adding more than a dozen transfer additions between the winter and spring portal windows. However, getting more experience in the secondary has been a priority.
The rising sophomore is recognized as a Top-25 available safety by On3 Sports and participated in every game for the Hurricanes last season. Patterson wrapped up the 2024 season with a total of 19 tackles and three pass break-ups.
The bad news is that On3 reported that Patterson will visit Oklahoma State soon. This comes just days after Florida reportedly made a solid offer to him on his trip to Gainesville.
"Sources told On3 on Thursday morning that Zaquan Patterson could visit Oklahoma State as early as this weekend. He’s previously visited Florida and Ole Miss. Patterson is recovering from an injury that kept him sidelined throughout spring camp."
Patterson has reportedly also become a "top priority" for Florida, so the Rebels may be bowing out based on how heavily he's being courted.
We'll see if Kiffin can pull some magic out or if he thinks the juice is no longer worth the squeeze.
