Three wins in a row have Ohio State positioned to grab a National Championship their next time out.
The Buckeyes took care of business in Texas on Friday night when they defeated the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State turned a 14-7 halftime lead into a 28-14 victory against Texas and Steve Sarkisian.
It was a battle between the two most talented teams left and the Buckeyes landed more punches. As we all expected, it was a close game. That comes as no surprise, as both teams recruit at a similar level. Following the game, two Ohio State signees delivered a shot that Texas fans won't really appreciate.
Riley Pettijohn is a five-star talent who chose the Buckeyes over Texas amongst many other schools. Devin Sanchez may be the best incoming freshman cornerback and the Buckeyes beat out the Longhorns to land him.
Texas landed four of the top 10 recruits out of the state of Texas in the 2025 class. Keelon Russell, Dakorien Moore, and Sanchez were the top-3 players in the state who all decided to leave Texas.
Ohio State has long landed some top players from the state of Texas and that isn’t going to stop. Pettijohn is going to have a chance to make an impact as a freshman linebacker in terms of being depth. Sanchez is going to have a chance to see playing time as a freshman in Ohio State’s secondary next fall.
Ohio State came out on top against Texas this time and they will open their 2025 season against them at home against the Longhorns. Expect the Buckeyes to have some top recruits at that game, perhaps even some athletes from Texas.
Next up is the National Championship for Ohio State against Notre Dame and that game will be played on Jan. 20.
Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer showed his true colors as a Buckeye following moment he won’t forget vs. Texas
Jack and the team are one win away.
