Following the National Championship win, the Ohio State Buckeyes now have to figure out what the roster and coaching staff will look like next year.

With success comes the possibility of other teams looking to land members of your coaching staff. Ohio State is going through that with DC Jim Knowles, whose future with the Buckeyes may be in doubt.

According to Football Scoop, Penn State and Notre Dame have shown interest in Knowles. Oklahoma has already been showing interest and is said to have a $3 million offer on the table.

Prior to the National Championship win over Notre Dame, Knowles was asked about the ongoing Oklahoma rumors.

“Beat Notre Dame, that's all I'm focused on," Knowles said at that time. "These things happen, I guess, when you have success, players are making plays. My job is to put them in the best position. These things come up when you do well.”

Football Scoop reports that Penn State has offered Knowles a package worth $3.2 million annually after they lost DC Tom Allen to Clemson. Notre Dame watched DC Al Golden head to the Cincinnati Bengals following the end of the Fighting Irish’s season.

Knowles currently makes $2.2 million and is the highest-paid assistant on Ryan Day’s staff in Columbus. This may end up being a situation where the Buckeyes end up having to give Knowles a raise. He could be due for it after the top-flight defense he coached all the way to a title this season.

Ohio State just finished up their third season with Knowles leading the defense. It would undoubtedly be a great loss for the Buckeyes, but it sounds like Ohio State plans to do all it can to keep Knowles.
