The Oklahoma Sooners will likely be very active in the transfer portal. That happens when you have a bad year and a lot of players leave. They need to get the stink out of the building from 2024 and to do that, you almost have to bring in new faces.
The two position groups they will target heavily in the portal have to be the offensive line and the wide receiver positions. They need bodies at both, especially with some of the guys who have already left from last season.
And now, another domino has fallen. Another player has entered the transfer portal, this time a starter in offensive lineman Joshua Bates. He didn't start every game, and he wasn't an initial starter as he was a redshirt freshman, but he did start some games.
But with him entering the transfer portal, the Sooners may not be batting an eye, really. He wasn't great last year, and the offensive line may have been the worst part of the entire offense last season. They will definitely want to bring in some new players on the offensive line, and Bates leaving kind of helps them do that.
This transfer portal class is loaded with some talent on the offensive line, and the Sooners should be pretty active.
