The Oklahoma Sooners have had a real injury issue in 2024, and it's pretty much been the biggest thing that held them back this year. You could argue that or the offensive playcalling and scheme. Regardless, no one expected them to have a huge season when the injuries started to pile up like they did for the Sooners.
And, even in their wins, the few they did have, they were a team that still struggled with injuries. Even in the win over Alabama, they were down so many players. But, it didn't matter in that certain circumstance. After the loss to LSU, something happened that showed it isn't stopping for the Sooners on the injury front, either.
After the loss to LSU, one that started really good but ended really bad, someone noticed something as the players walked off the field after talking to one another.
There's now a picture going around of wide receiver Zion Kearney being helped off the field into the tunnel after the game, limping. This just sums up how the 2024 season has been for the Sooners, especially that room.
The Sooners have largely been without their six best wide receivers for almost the entire season. Now, with a bowl game left, it feels like there is a chance that even Kearney could be out. And, with how the transfer portal is, and how crazy college football is today, that could be the last time he is playing for the Sooners. We simply don't know.
You hate to see that.
