After the Florida Gators got blown out by Texas A&M early in the season, it looked like Billy Napier was on his way out as the head coach. Then Graham Mertz tore his ACL against the Tennessee Volunteers and the legend of DJ Lagway began.

This season, Lagway is 4-1 as a starter with the only loss being against the Georgia Bulldog, a game in which Lagway got injured in the second quarter and the Gators were still tied halfway through the fourth quarter.

Because of the success, recruiting has taken a huge leap forward and it did again on Friday. The Gators successfully flipped four-star edge rusher Jayden Woods from Penn State.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Wookds is the 14th-ranked edge rusher and 116th overall prospect in the 2025 class.

In the last two weeks, the Gators have continued to flip players from other schools, including three from Florida State and one from USC. The Gators are hot on the recruiting trail as they should be with Lagway being a huge draw to play with over at least the next two seasons.

The Gators aren't done yet, as they are still working on trying to flip multiple five-star players, including LSU commit CB D.J. Pickett and Texas commit WR Jaime Ffrench. WIth 20 commits in the class, the Gators are now up to 15th in the On3 rankings and could make the top 10 with their momentum heading into the early signing period next week.
