The Oklahoma Sooners have had elite recruiting classes every single year under Brent Venables, with top-ten finishes in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
They're continuing that trend with their 2025 class, pulling in another elite class as they try to finish with their fourth-straight top-ten class (currently 11th on 247Sports).
The Sooners are among the best programs in the country with their 2025 class in one of the best measurements of talent out there.
While the Sooners would undoubtedly like to improve that ratio, it is pretty impressive that they are tied with the Texas Longhorns despite their drastically different 2024 seasons.
Oklahoma is in the hunt to secure more commits and flip a few more committed recruits as the cycle goes on.
They will have to convince recruits after a disastrous offensive performance in 2024 that already saw offensive coordinator Seth Littrell fired just four games into their SEC schedule.
Fortunately for the Sooners, they are a blue-blood program with a strong staff of recruiters across their position coaches. While they will need to quickly identify a replacement for Littrell (and TEs coach Joe Jon Finley but that's a separate discussion), they haven't seen any real momentum changes with their recruiting class after the fire.
Still, Oklahoma has never really been in a situation as tumultuous as this season has been in recent memory. It will be interesting to see how other schools react to what the Sooners are going through and potentially try to poach some of their recruits.
The Sooners have enjoyed several talented freshmen under Brent Venables in recent years. Players like Peyton Bowen, Jayden Jackson, and Taylor Tatum have enjoyed strong freshman seasons with Oklahoma in the last two seasons.
