Texas HC Steve Sarkisian may not be thrilled about his players giving Oklahoma Sooners bulletin board material

The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns rivalry is the best one in all of sports, in my humble opinion. It's long-standing, in a great location, with two of the most historic college football schools in the history of the game. And, two of the biggest brands, too. Did I mention a whole Texas State Fair is going on in the background as well?
These two teams hate one another. The fan bases only follow suit. In fact, these fan bases may hate the opposite team more than they love their team. That's just how deep this rivalry runs. It's one of those rivalries that, no matter which team has the better record — one team could have zero wins and the other with zero losses, it's still going to be a battle. And, many have seen some good ones throughout the years.
It's no secret that coming into the Red River Rivalry, the Texas Longhorns are the favorites. They may very well be the best team in the country. They have played fantastic football up to this point, and the Sooners, well, they really haven't. That doesn't mean the Sooners can't win, but, the Longhorns sure are most people's pick.
But, with a rivalry like this, you can't afford to give the other team any more reason to get up and play you. You cannot give the other team bulletin board material, or say things that will just piss off the other team, put a chip on their shoulder, and go out and prove them wrong. Do not add fuel to the fire.
So far, the Sooners and their players aren't. But, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian may not be thrilled about what his players are saying before the matchup.
"OU, OU, OU," Texas freshman edge rusher Colin Simmons said earlier this week. "I mean, they have a good squad this year. There are a lot of people on that team that I know. I feel like we are going to dominate them. But, at the end of the day, we have to trust in our coaching."
The Sooners are 4-1, but it hasn't been pretty. They have suffered a quarterback change, and a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball, and the offensive playcalling just hasn't lived up to the hype. But, they are coming off of a monumental win over the Auburn Tigers, which should help them prepare for the Longhorns, as will the bulletin board material.
We all know that Brent Venables-coached teams don't do all the trash-talking off of the field in the weeks or even days leading up to the game. So, they will just handle it on the field. Sarkisian, who is a great, respected head coach, can't be too happy his players are chirping, especially a freshman.
