Oklahoma has been an NFL pipeline throughout the program's history, boasting at least one player drafted into the NFL in every year but two since 1936.
The Sooners most recently produced back-to-back first-round selections with OTs Anton Harrison and Tyler Guyton, but have produced numerous successful players throughout every round of the draft.
Their NFL pipeline struck again with several tremendous performances in Week 4 of the NFL season. Who were some of the standout Sooners in the NFL this week?
QB Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The well-beloved Sooner, Mayfield has turned a corner with the Buccaneers, and his chemistry with his teammates was on full display as he diced up the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday afternoon.
Mayfield finished 30-of-47 passing for 347 yards and two touchdowns, guiding the Buccaneers to a 33-16 win. He also tacked on another touchdown on the ground.
So far this season, Mayfield is fourth in the league in passing yards (984) and second in passing touchdowns (8).
The Buccaneers are 3-1 on the season on the shoulders of Mayfield, He's regained his confidence, something Sooners fans are well aware of with Baker.
WR Sterling Shepard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Did Sterling Shepard have the best day statistically on Sunday? Nah, not really. He did catch three passes for 51 yards, but that finished fourth on the Bucs' offense. However, it was pretty special to see Mayfield and Shepard reconnect on passes after not having played together since 2015(!).
Mayfield and Shepard produced some magical moments in that 2015 season. Perhaps none greater than their game-winner in a comeback victory over the Tennessee Volunteers that season that began Mayfield's legacy and cemented Shepard's. It does my heart good to see them back making plays together.
LB Nik Bonitto, Denver Broncos
Bonitto has been a quietly effective pass rusher for a stout Broncos' defense so far in 2024. After posting a sack against Tampa last week, Bonitto posted another one on Aaron Rodgers this week, beating Tyron Smith around the edge to get it.
On the season, he has nine pressures and two sacks. Hopefully, he can continue his production moving forward this season.
WR CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys
Lamb has done nothing but make big plays since his freshman season at Oklahoma in 2017, so his performance on Thursday night against the New York Giants was business as usual for him.
Lamb tallied up 98 yards and a touchdown to secure the Cowboys' 20-15 win over the Giants.
Funnily enough, Lamb boasts the two longest runs of any Cowboys player this season with a 12-yard run in Week 1 and another 10-yarder this week against the Giants.
