Former Florida Gators head coach Steve Spurrier gave Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart a little extra bulletin board material this week.
Georgia is set to travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend for a huge showdown against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
And Spurrier, who was 11-1 against Georgia during his time as the head coach at Florida, doesn't think the Bulldogs will get a win on Saturday night.
"Since it's at Bama, I would take Alabama," said Spurrier during his weekly appearance on Another Dooley Noted Podcast.
"Then I read that Kirby is 1-6 against Alabama, or something like that," continued Spurrier. "They have been the two best, Georgia and Bama the last several years. So it'll be a huge game."
(Smart is actually 1-5 against Alabama.)
This is kind of stuff that drives Smart and the Bulldogs.
Kirby is a master when it comes to motivating his players. And this little soundbite from Spurrier, even though it's not something that Smart is going to harp on, should give Georgia a little extra in what could potentially be a statement game for the Bulldogs after a narrow win against Kentucky two weeks ago.
I know this game is at Alabama, but it's hard to pick a non-Nick Saban coached Crimson Tide team against Smart and Georgia. Anything can happen, but I would be surprised if Kalen DeBoer gets his first SEC win against Smart on Saturday night. I think this could be a rude welcome to the SEC for the former Washington head coach, despite what Spurrier predicted this week.
