Whether you're a fan of him or not, Deion Sanders has changed college football forever.

Not only has he brought success to the University of Colorado, but he's brought a level of notoriety that was foreign to the institution prior to his arrival.

It seems that Flordia Atlantic University is on the hunt for a similar path, with Adam Schefter of ESPN reporting that NFL Hall of Famer and Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis has emerged as a significant candidate to become team's next head coach:

Ray Lewis to FAU?

Following the Deion Sanders-to-Colorado model, Hall-of-Fame linebacker Ray Lewis has emerged as a candidate to become the next head coach at Florida Atlantic University, sources tell ESPN.

For Flordia Atlantic, it has been a struggle since Lane Kiffin departed to become the HC of Ole Miss. After winning conference championships during his tenure, the team hasn't had a winning season since 2020 and has relieved both Willie Taggart and now Tom Herman of their HC duties.

And for Lewis, not only is it a terrific opportunity to get into a head coaching role, but the University comes with familiarity. Lewis is a native Floridian and played his college ball at the University of Miami.

The last time the Owls took a University of Miami superstar and placed him at HC it worked out well via the late, great, Howard Schnellenberger, who is known as the godfather of FAU football.

For Florida Atlantic, the potential hire would be a home run. While attaining Lewis could surely boost their national aura, the program came into relevance under HC lane Kiffin, but was catapulted by the Men's basketball team's run to the final four in 2023.

A school that has a strong cash flow in one of the most beautiful towns in America, it's a hard opportunity to pass up for any presumptive candidate, but surely one of Ray Lewis' status in the football world.

We'll see if the Owls can bring him home.
