Ohio State is trying to get a big recruiting win over Alabama and this coming weekend is going to be crucial in their attempt.
When Ohio State hosts Purdue at noon on Saturday, they will receive an official visit from an Alabama running back commit. Anthony Rogers will be on campus for an OV for the game against the Boilermakers, according to On3.
Ohio State offered Rogers originally back in April and he has been committed to Alabama since June of 2023. According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Rogers is the No. 8 running back in the country and the No. 141 overall player. The thing that the Crimson Tide has working for them is that Rogers is an in-state kid from Montgomery, Alabama.
The Buckeyes would like to take three running backs in this class. Ohio State has four-star running back Bo Jackson and three-star running back Isaiah West currently committed. Rogers could be that No. 3 running back in the class, at least the Buckeyes would like him to be.
Rogers is a 5-foot-8, 190-pound running back who brings speed to the field. With both running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins off to the NFL after this season, Ohio State will need to add multiple players to the room. Current freshmen James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon will be in the mix to take over next season.
Ohio State is big favorites over Purdue and they have a big recruiting weekend on tap with a major flip target in town.
