The Minnesota Vikings have made their final roster cuts and crafted their initial 53-man roster. Now that cutdown day has passed, it's time to start forming the initial rendition of the practice squad.

Before waivers run at 11 a.m. CT, the Vikings already added two players to the practice squad in safety Bobby McCain and running back Myles Gaskin.

The idea of bringing back both McCain and Gaskin is from a depth and knowledge perspective. McCain has worked with Flores before and can be a stable player on the back end if injuries arise. Gaskin was with the Vikings last season in two stints. His addition to the practice squad is likely so the Vikings can have a third running back, as they didn't keep one on the initial 53-man roster.

NFL practice squad rules

The Vikings can construct their practice squad with players of varying experience. Here is who they can add.

  • Players who do not have an accrued season (I.E. rookies).

  • Players who were on the active roster for fewer than nine regular-season games during their only accrued season(s).

  • Up to four players per team with no more than two accrued seasons.

  • Up to six players per team with no accrued season limitations (I.E. vested veterans).
