Family has always been a priority for Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. That was reaffirmed on Sunday as ESPN's Chris Low reported that Kiffin hired his brother Chris to his staff as a defensive assistant.

On the surface, many might question the legitimacy of a college football coach hiring a family to his coaching staff. But one look at Chris Kiffin's resume will change that quickly.

Chris was Lane's defensive coordinator in 2017 at FAU before spending his last six seasons at the NFL level. Kiffin has been coaching on the defensive side of the football for over two decades. He spent the 2023 NFL season as the linebackers coach for the Houston Texans. In 2022, Kiffin served as the Cleveland Browns defensive line coach, so he's been around plenty of great coaches and players in his career.

Ole Miss fans are familiar with his work as a defensive line coach and major asset in recruiting with the Rebels from 2012-2016. Kiffin also served as a graduate assistant in 2007 on Ed Orgeron's staff.

The late Monte Kiffin was also a part of his son's coaching staff over the last three years, so having family in the building is nothing new for the Rebels head coach. After their father's passing this summer, it's great to see the Kiffins once again coming together with football being the vessel.
