For all of the fireworks the Ohio State offense set off in Week 2's 56-0 win against Western Michigan, the Buckeyes' defense caught my attention. After Ryan Day called for a cleaner game from his team, the Buckeyes rallied and pitched their first shutout since 2019.
However, unusual for when a defense is so dominant, an unheralded starter earned the Defensive Player of the Game for Week 2. Defensive tackle earned the honor, notching half a sack, one tackle for loss, and four tackles.
But one play in particular stood out, and you have to see it.
Hamilton, a fifth-year senior, absolutely blew up All-Mac center Jacob Gideon on this play. Watch Hamilton get under Gideon's pad level and throw him to the ground. Mind you, this was only the second play of the game.
We would've expected Tyleik Williams to make this highlight, but Hamilton is truly a pleasant surprise.
