When players make it to the NFL it can quite often be a rare occasion for them to reconnect with old teammates from their glory days in college. For players on the 2019 national championship team for LSU it's a bit more common, seeing as 29 of them went on to make NFL rosters, but it's still special when two elite talents reconnect.
This week the Cleveland Browns and Vikings are holding joint practices ahead of their Week 2 preseason game, which means for only the second time ever two of LSU's most important playmakers on both sides of the ball during that epic 2019 championship run get to reunite to face off against one another.
The Browns highlighted the reunion between Vikings All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Browns star safety Grant Delpit on Wednesday via their social media (as you can see in the post below).
Both stars played critical roles in leading LSU to their 2019 national championship as Jefferson caught over 100 receptions for over 1500 yards and 18 touchdowns while Delpit finished as the team's fourth leading tackler and defended over a half dozen passes on the year. Jefferson of course went for over 100 receiving yards in the national championship game itself. Delpit snagged a half dozen tackles and even sacked Trevor Lawrence in a pivotal moment as well.
Since then Justin Jefferson has gone on to post the most receiving yards per game in NFL history (by far) for the Vikings. And Delpit–despite tearing his Achilles tendon as a rookie–has still found his way to immense production racking up over 250 tackles and intercepting a half dozen passes in three seasons too. It should be fun to see two LSU legends face off against one another this coming weekend as the Browns play the Vikings.
